At Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, we rely on continuous research and 30 years of experience to provide clients with the portfolio management necessary for success in racing, breeding and investing. Diversified investing and market timing are two of the more important factors that we stress in helping clients realize their goals. The value of a thoroughbred asset is often volatile and subject to added risk inherent to the breed. We try to help clients realize assets when the timng is right and help manage risk, so the client can instead enjoy the great challenges, rewards and excitement that the sport has to offer. Through our experience in managing racing stables, breeding & investment partnerships and a public sales consignment, we are able to provide the advice our clients need to explore all opportunities associated with the sport of horseracing.
We invite all levels of participation from our clients in the planning and management of their horses. We also feel it is important that we remain independent from particular stud farms, so to provide unbiased opinions regarding breeding and investment opportunities.
Let us help you develop an avenue into this great sport, whether it's through your own racing or breeding enterprise, or through investment into one of our syndicates. We'll provide you with the peace of mind that your horses are being managed with the professional attention you deserve. |
“I hired John and Peter originally to assist me with the management of my father’s stable (John M. Schiff) in the early 80s. After the sale of those horses by BTSI at Keeneland in 1988, they have assisted me in the day-to-day operations of my own breed-to-race operation. The high point of our operation to date has been breeding and racing Riskaverse, who won the Gl Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Keeneland (after a previous photo finish runner-up effort with our homebred Christiecat), and the Gl Flower Bowl twice! Riskaverse was consigned by Bluegrass for Fox Ridge in November 2005 and sold for $5 million. Being located in New York, I have always felt it was helpful to have a set of eyes and ears in Kentucky where my breeding stock is located. We have enjoyed a long relationship. The folks at Bluegrass have helped me in many ways – breeding plans, buying and selling horses, stallion shares, seasons, racing strategy, market timing, etc. They have been good friends and good advisors.”
Peter G. Schiff, President of Northwood Ventures, owner and operator of Fox Ridge Farm, Inc., which breeds horses to race in New York, and member of NYRA and The Jockey Club. | |
